The Real Alice, Perhaps!

Color my world!

This is an old  photo of a beautiful child from the early 1900′s.  Actually it’s a photo on a drawing.  I loved her look but the shanty behind her was so ugly.  I made her a fantasy world for all time.

Happy Easter Monday!

April 25, 2011

I took this photo in the evening after a thunderstorm.  The cherry blossoms were the color of the sunset.  This is more than a “small” wonder.  The neighborhood is in bloom with these trees.  They were supposed to be dwarf cherry trees.  Ours is about 25 feet and growing.  All the better for the cardinals who nest at the top.

Coming Back from Illness

April 19, 2011

My cat is asleep on the easy chair.  It’s raining and I am recovering from a serious virus.  My first cup of tea in 4 days is warming my hand.  No food for a while.  So much has passed by without my alert attention. The trees are blooming! I want to paint, but that will come soon.

Here are some watercolor sketches from my notebook.  Sorry for the delay in correspondence!

Poet’s Nest

March 18, 2011
Poems rolled inside hornet’s nest

I found this hornets nest in January on a broken branch of a sumac tree.  I brought it home and knocked out the dead hornets.  I chose poems from Walt Whitman, wrote them on tracing paper, and rolled them up.  They are in the catacombs of the nest.

Snow Geese

Oh, if the water serves and the winds lift us,

I will join the rising life.

My arms rustle with the anticipation.
